A Monday kind of mood

Fun with focus...

...and lack thereof.

Often, suggesting is far more eloquent than spelling it out.

...we're living in a snowglobe

...and some jackass keeps giving it a shake.

We come from the land of the ice and snow

The squalls finally moved a bit south, not to say they won't migrate north again, but there's been a lull, finally, after 60cm of accumulation in the past 24 hours.

The front door was actually snowed shut this morning.

(the little note on the inside of the door is a memo to myself, posted at eye level, to remind me that the steps are icy. The one rare advantage of a heavy snowfall is that it temporarily covers up the ice and gives some traction).

You want sprinkles on that? (Soleil has a weird love of shoving her head into the fresh snow):

The photographs don't really even give the true sense of scale. Suffice to say it's a lot of snow. If it weren't for a couple of angel neighbours with snowblowers, I'd be curled up in a corner, babbling incoherences.

And it's only the first week of January.

And the snow keeps coming

It hasn't really let up since the squalls began, 24 hours ago. We've probably got 30cm of new snow already on the ground, and 20cm more possible this evening. More squalls could be on the way tomorrow afternoon as well. Our own white hell.

Two kind neighbours came by with snowblowers, and I shovelled the front path and the steps. That was a couple of hours ago. Now it's so drifted again that it looks like it hasn't been touched.

The animals know how to stay cosy, though.

Notice how Soleil manages to keep a wary eye or ear on the feline interloper (who, it must be pointed out, had been on the bed first):
