The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea.
Isak Dinesen
I have seen all three over the past couple of days. Perhaps not the sea, but the lake is a reasonable and accessible facsimile.
I ran ten (treadmill) miles this morning, which was probably not the smartest thing to do, but I just needed to, and I was careful.
When I finished, there was sweat everywhere. It felt great.
I did the first mile in 9:30, last mile in 7:00 - again, probably unwise - the only justification I can present is because I could.
I've spent the rest of the day making hex signs at the re-calcifying and recalcitrant outer edge of my healing, Boston-denying left foot. So far, so good.
I went for a walk after the rain had stopped and photographed water-bejewelled flowers, all the while donating what can only be quantified as a shit-ton of blood to the local mosquito population.
So here are the results. Today it's irises, poppies, alliums, lilies-of-the-valley, johnny-jump-ups, phlox, and tiny fern tendrils. The early summer denizens. The lupines are beginning to pop, but I'll save them for next week.
