Going (back) to the dogs

Here's a sweet picture of one of the two main reasons why people follow this blog. This is Soleil, snoozing the afternoon away on the landing of the stairs. It's somewhere she can rest but at the same time be excellently positioned to follow goings-on elsewhere in the house, and also outside on the street. The front door is at the bottom of the stairs, and from her vantage point on the landing, she can see out. I've softened this image with a canvas texture, which I thought worked well with the shallow depth of field and the soft feel of the snoozing dog. She'll soon be eight, and I can see her getting older now. She has a lot more white on her face, and she has a skin tag on her hip. She's still as busy and silly as ever, but I am resigning myself to the fact that she's a senior dog now, and that I don't have all the time in the world left with her.

She looks so peaceful here. Myles is almost 8 and I feel the same way. He has some cysts on chest that the vet is not at all concerned with, but it breaks my heart. Soleil is one of the reasons and you, Arwen and even Tim are the others.
