La vie en rose

Thank you to Beth and John for responding to yesterday's post with your own reflections and reactions. Dialogue is always good, because it opens the mind to other perspectives and insights. Social media can be a dangerously closed echo chamber, and we're getting more and more of our news and information from this platform, rife with sources that may be biased, specious or aligned uniquely with our own beliefs. In so doing, consciously or not, we see the world through a filter, like the rose one on these blossoms...

If only I had these in my front yard... how beautiful!

Those are lovely. It's a sweet reminder that no matter what kind of ugliness is going on the world, nature will continue to bring us its simple beauty every season.

I've been ask to join Facebook from just about every family member but I will continue to say no, because of that bias. Every day I read news from the far left and the far right, from New York Times to the BBC to Russia Today to Al Jazeera to Fox News to Peoples World and.. run it through the filter my parents and life has taught me and go from there.. In the states they have relaxed media ownership with newspapers and radio. Now they plan to extend that to television. Many markets there will only be one media source.. we used to call that a monopoly and break them up... Ponder this though... because we have the internet, we can choose to keep our eyes open or keep them closed... I prefer open
