Schooners, scavenging and stones
It seems a bit odd to be titling the post with Boston, since we seem very removed in time as well as in place now, from Boston and the marathon.
We were up not long after sunrise, and we took the dogs over to the harbour so that Tim could get up close and personal with a couple of the schooners that have been unwrapped for the upcoming season, and we watched the lobster boats heading out for the day.
I went out for a run and Tim went for the hotel buffet breakfast, then we reconnoitred and packed up what we needed for the day (including the dogs) and headed way up the coast. We stopped at a couple of antique shops/junkyards so that Tim could rummage around, and he did come out with some prizes.
We continued way up the coast, almost all the way to the Canadian border, to a special, secret beach, and we had the place almost entirely to ourselves. It wasn't nearly as windy as yesterday, and it was a bit warmer as well, so that was a pleasant surprise, since we were expecting it to be frigid right by the ocean.
On our way back, we made a stop at the LL Bean outlet near the entrance to Acadia National Park.
It was a beautiful, relaxed, sunshiny day, and fun was had by all.
Explanatory note on the first photo : this is pretty much how I get awakened every single day...the campaign of harassment to get their breakfast. Soleil sits on top of me while Arwen exerts pressure by pushing me toward the edge of the bed. They have me extremely well trained, because they inevitably win.
