A day of ups and downs

As these two seem to express.

Spring...

...cleaning.

I attacked the Art/studio/gym room today ('the place where Paula practices her passions'), and a quick project to empty a cabinet turned into an all-day fiesta of sorting, chucking, and reevaluating. Bonus #1: finding stuff I'd forgotten I had. Bonus #2: talking out a multi-room renovation to make more sensible use of our space. Bonus #3: finding art that I'd made a couple of years ago and seeing how far I've come. Un-Bonus#1: almost forgetting to post this blog entry. And since we're now right on the cusp of the equinox, thanks to my tardy posting, Happy Spring!

Thinking of a friend...

...who's saying goodbye to her mum today.

As the years slip by...

This photo showed up as an 'on this day' memory today. Soleil, five years ago, at age two-nearly-three. She looked so much like what Arwen looks like now, at three years old.

The picture also made me realize how much white has appeared on my soon-to-be-eight-year-old ''pup's'' face:

Never give all the heart, for love

Will hardly seem worth thinking of

To passionate women if it seem

Certain, and they never dream

That it fades out from kiss to kiss;

For everything that's lovely is

But a brief, dreamy, kind delight.

O Never give the heart outright,

For they, for all smooth lips can say,

Have given their hearts up to the play.

And who could play it well enough

If deaf and dumb and blind with love?

He that made this knows all the cost,

For he gave all his heart and lost.
