It's never just black and white

There are so many shades of grey in between. Where does black end and white begin?

Some people appear to be able to discriminate categorically.

That's a myopic view if ever there was one.

One for which I have zero tolerance or respect.

Everyone bleeds red.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Play misty for me

Some atmospheric shots from last weekend in Hamilton. The weather was certainly in tune with the tenor of the day as we attended the memorial gathering. But the landscape was beautiful, wreathed in mist. And so different from the endless snowscape that we have at home, just 3 hours' drive north.

Clothes minded

Can't make this up. It's a dog magnet. I've learned not to set it down when the clothes are clean.

short noses

I've been continuing with the quick daily sketches, and over the last week I've made my first foray into short-snouted dogs. I'm so accustomed to being around and drawing dogs like Labs and Goldens and Shepherds, I thought it would be a good idea to learn the (remarkably different) anatomy of these other breeds. So here are a few of those quick sketches. These dogs all belong(ed) to a colleague who adopts older/mature dogs and gives them a happy home in which to live out their final years. The one he has currently came with a lot of baggage in the form of separation anxiety, and he managed to arrange to work from home a few days of the week to try to help the dog overcome this issue. Dog people are the best.
